DATE: January 22nd 2011 – January 23rd 2011
REPORT OF 5th DAF POLL No. 0120112205
DAF Social Media Poll was created to monitor public opinion on
issues locally as well as internationally.
Vision Statement:
The DAF Social Media Poll is designed to garner public opinion on various issues both locally and internationally. Our expectation is that information hereby collated is put into action for an improved society and improved total life experience for all citizens and residents of Trinidad and Tobago. In making such improvements we shall touch lives both locally as well as globally thereby improving lives from country to country.
Vote of thanks from the founder:
“The DAF Social Media Poll is designed to inform, educate and influence decision makers and opinion leaders on various matters engaging the public’s attention. This is not a politically influenced or aligned poll, and information is strictly for the betterment of humanity, and to help society’s leaders better understand their publics. The DAF Social Media Poll is a work in progress, and is the first online Social media Poll in Trinidad and Tobago, and maybe the Caricom. Social Media is the most powerful tool in today’s modern world. We recently saw the important role it played in collapsing the now defunct dictatorship government of Tunisia. This new and powerful medium is vastly different from what obtained in the 20th Century, and so too its boundaries are constantly being redefined, as each day progresses. We are hoping to find a way of working within the new world order. This poll continues to be alive and growing from the people who participate and request participation or recommend their friends to join, and for this we are eternally grateful. Many heads working to fulfill a purpose are better than one.”

Introduction:
On January 22nd, 2011 David AM Fraser executed the fifth poll for the group DAVID FRASER’S GROUP via Facebook. Members voted from January 22nd, 2011 to January 23rd, 2011. Questions regarding Trinidad and Tobago’s Peoples Partnership Government’s handling of the S.I.A Spy Chief appointment were asked. These two questions are being assessed in this report.
This report is being shared with you to ensure the transparency of relevant information is readily available to all contributors as well as members of David Fraser’s group. It is your participation that assists us in accomplishing our vision.
As indicated in our Vision Statement, we expect information hereby collated, be put into action plans with the intention of using such plans as a guide to an improved total life experience for all citizens and residents of Trinidad and Tobago. In making such improvements we shall touch lives both locally as well as globally thereby fulfilling our vision of improving lives from country to country.
This poll was formatted by way of asking two questions on GOVERNMENT’S HANDLING OF S.I.A SPY CHIEF APPOINTMENT.
Question 1is: Should the Prime Minister advise the President to revoke the appointment of Reshmi Usha Ramnarine as head of the Security Intelligence Agency (SIA)?
Question 2 is: Do you believe from the information carried in the media that Reshmi Usha Ramnarine is:-
1. Fit and Proper to do the Job as Spy Chief;
2. Unfit to hold such a post and should not have been hired;
3. Can’t say – Mixed opinions on the matter, need more information to make an assessment.
This report goes on to assess these responses.
Our Aim:
It is our aim to create awareness in a manner that is palatable to all concerned. Our goal is to show that government must ensure that they provide true, lasting trust between themselves and those whom they govern. If a government makes an appointment of someone who is insufficiently capable to perform the necessary duties, this produces lack of trust which corrodes relationships within society.
Government must realise that they are in the employ of those who elected them. Your contributions ensure they are reminded of such. With your opinions, perceptions as well as experience by way of your contributions to the DAF Social Media Poll, together we are improving lives and impacting nations for the better.
Methodology:
We collate information through every form of secure online media available to us in an effort to fulfill our aim. In so doing we are better able to assess issues as well as disseminate the said assessments in a timely fashion.
Assessment:
Members were requested to respond to two questions by indicating which number they chose in relation to the options that were open for selection as shown in Figures 1 through 4 below.

Therefore with such ability at hand, together we shall be able to enhance society both locally and internationally.
How Sample Was Taken:
The sample was taken by way of information collated from the online contribution made by Members of David Fraser’s Group on Facebook. Members indicated their selections by voting through this group. Members were contacted via Facebook inbox messages as well as a visible poll on the David Fraser Group’s page. Information was analyzed and presented in a more than timely fashion actually and in relation to the percentage of Members who casted their vote via this social media poll.
Conclusion:
The 5th DAF Social Media Poll clearly indicates three specific issues. Firstly there is a low vote of confidence in the capabilities of Ms. Ramnarine. Secondly there has been insufficient information provided by authorities and media to give more consideration to her position. Thirdly the largest percent of contributors to this poll were of the opinion that she is unfit to hold the post of Spy Chief or should not have been hired in the first place.
