REPORT OF 6th DAF POLL No.
0120112706

DAF Social Media Poll was created to monitor public opinion on

issues locally as well as internationally.

VISION STATEMENT:

The DAF Social Media Poll is designed to garner public opinion on various issues both locally and internationally. Our expectation is that information hereby collated is put into action for an improved society and improved total life experience for all citizens and residents of Trinidad and Tobago. VOTE OF THANKS FROM THE FOUNDER:

“As signals continue to emanate from the present Government regarding the appointment of the former Director of the Security Intelligence Agency (SIA) Ms. Reshmi Usha Ramnarine. Several Members of Parliament and Ministers have commented on the situation. It seems that the matter now falls to the head of the Cabinet, the Honourable Kamla Persad Bissessar M.P., and Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

We requested your participation in this poll, which sought to garner group opinion, as to what is your perceived best course of action, the government should adopt in bringing closure to this issue. Your response was almost instantaneous on this occasion. For this we thank you as we realise that your quick response is a reflection of your need to voice your concerns on the matter. We further recognise that you are indeed socially aware and willing to ensure the fates of Trinidad and Tobago prosper rather than decline.

DAF Social Media Poll is the first in Trinidad and Tobago, and is primarily used as a tool to inform and educate. Your contributions have been very important in helping us have a glimpse at how public opinion can impact you personally. As a result of your contributions we see more and more how family and social life, development, governance and business are all affected by public opinion. Thank you for your participation. Please continue to contribute knowing that we can all improve society when we work together to achieve an objective.”

Information was analyzed and presented in relation to the percentage of Members who casted their vote via this social media poll.

Conclusion:

The 6th DAF Social Media Poll clearly indicates that the largest percent of contributors are in favour of receiving further explanation from the Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad Bissessar should make a full statement to the nation outlining all the facts in this matter. Whilst 25% believe it is time to move on from this issue. This leaves 8% preferring that Reshmi Usha Ramnarine address the media explaining the chain of events which eventually led to her being appointed as director of the Security Intelligence Agency (SIA).

Do note that the result of an early response time of Members of David Fraser’s Group voting in this poll is a positive indication that we are on the continued path to success. Together we are touching and improving lives country by country.

5th DAF SOCIAL MEDIA POLL

DATE: January 22nd 2011 – January 23rd 2011

REPORT OF 5th DAF POLL No.
0120112205

DAF Social Media Poll was created to monitor public opinion on

issues locally as well as internationally.

Vision Statement:

The DAF Social Media Poll is designed to garner public opinion on various issues both locally and internationally. Our expectation is that information hereby collated is put into action for an improved society and improved total life experience for all citizens and residents of Trinidad and Tobago. In making such improvements we shall touch lives both locally as well as globally thereby improving lives from country to country.

Vote of thanks from the founder:

“The DAF Social Media Poll is designed to inform, educate and influence decision makers and opinion leaders on various matters engaging the public’s attention. This is not a politically influenced or aligned poll, and information is strictly for the betterment of humanity, and to help society’s leaders better understand their publics. The DAF Social Media Poll is a work in progress, and is the first online Social media Poll in Trinidad and Tobago, and maybe the Caricom. Social Media is the most powerful tool in today’s modern world. We recently saw the important role it played in collapsing the now defunct dictatorship government of Tunisia. This new and powerful medium is vastly different from what obtained in the 20th Century, and so too its boundaries are constantly being redefined, as each day progresses. We are hoping to find a way of working within the new world order. This poll continues to be alive and growing from the people who participate and request participation or recommend their friends to join, and for this we are eternally grateful. Many heads working to fulfill a purpose are better than one.”

Introduction:

On January 22nd, 2011 David AM Fraser executed the fifth poll for the group DAVID FRASER’S GROUP via Facebook. Members voted from January 22nd, 2011 to January 23rd, 2011. Questions regarding Trinidad and Tobago’s Peoples Partnership Government’s handling of the S.I.A Spy Chief appointment were asked. These two questions are being assessed in this report.

This poll was formatted by way of asking two questions on GOVERNMENT’S HANDLING OF S.I.A SPY CHIEF APPOINTMENT.

Our Aim:

It is our aim to create awareness in a manner that is palatable to all concerned. Our goal is to show that government must ensure that they provide true, lasting trust between themselves and those whom they govern. If a government makes an appointment of someone who is insufficiently capable to perform the necessary duties, this produces lack of trust which corrodes relationships within society.

Government must realise that they are in the employ of those who elected them. Your contributions ensure they are reminded of such. With your opinions, perceptions as well as experience by way of your contributions to the DAF Social Media Poll, together we are improving lives and impacting nations for the better.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU:

A special thank you goes out to each member who contributed or attempted to contribute to the success of this poll. The success of this Social Media Poll depends highly upon your contributions and clarity in your representation of such contributions. We look forward to your continued participation.

DIFFICULTY EXPERIENCED:

Whilst most contributors were able to clarify whom they believe to be the best qualified to lead the COP at this time, there were 2 contributions that were unclear. In this situation this means that the contributors did not direct as to whether he/she was using option 7 as a selection.

Option 7 was; “7. Someone Else (Please state name)” thus illustrating the 3rd DAF Social Media Poll asked for contributors to name a person under selection 7. The lack of clarification within the group page on this matter led to that suggestion being omitted. The contributors did not say it was 7 that was chosen but made a suggestion for David Fraser to add a name. However the poll specifically asked certain questions. Therefore to ensure that this and future polls are just and fair, it is hereby requested that contributors clarify their position whilst polling. This will be much appreciated thus ensuring that the opinion of all contributors, are voiced with clarity.

HOW SAMPLE WAS TAKEN:

The sample was taken by way of information collated from the online contribution made by Members of David Fraser’s Group on Facebook. Members indicated their selections by voting through this group. Information was analyzed and presented in relation to the percentage of Members who casted their vote via this social media poll.

SAMPLE SIZE:
5.4 % of David Fraser’s Group voted on this poll through Facebook.

CONCLUSION:

This DAF Poll clearly indicates that the largest percent of votes by contributors to this poll during the allotted time are of the opinion that Winston Dookeran "is best qualified to be leader of the (COP) Congress of the People at this time.”
